Wedding Freelance Florist (specific dates June - October with possibility for long term)

Looking for an experienced, freelance florist to design perfectly-Field florals for our 2025 wedding roster, travel to events throughout Maine to deliver/set them up, and do the other small floral studio tasks that will vary from week to week.

The schedule for this position will include 1-3 weekdays in the studio (days/hours can be flexible to your schedule) + Saturdays for a total of 15-40 hours per week for specific dates June through October.

Required

• Floral design skills- well versed in garden style, but able to dip into traditional and modern as needed

• Experience setting up weddings independently (using personal vehicle suitable for transporting flowers), including on-site installation work on a tight schedule

• Independent and flexible worker, can see what needs to be done and will do it without being asked; anticipates needs

• Has the highest possible standards for design work, quality, and service, and strives to achieve them every single time

• Professional demeanor and excellent attitude throughout an occasionally stressful/packed season

• Ability to communicate needs, issues, and anything else to owner regularly

• Ability to communicate with coworkers, farmers, planners, and wedding clients, expertly and regularly

• Strives to create a congenial working atmosphere (v small company!)

• Comfortable driving long distances

• Comfortable working on a ladder

• Values sustainability in floral design

• Has flexibility with schedule

• Can be flexible to the many changing aspects of the floral/event world, including weather and other shifting/unpredictable elements, and working with a highly perishable product

Pay

• $25-$35 per hour (DOE) + .75 per mile driving to weddings + end of season bonus 🤗

Delivery Driver/Studio Assistant (year round- starting June 4)

Seeking delivery driver to pick up daily arrangements from our studio and deliver them to homes and workplaces throughout Southern Maine.

The schedule is Wednesdays through Sundays, but the hours can flex to accommodate your schedule. The hours swell for summer event work and for holidays. While not a floral design role, the position is a foot in the door. The additional opportunity to manage a pressed flower department and/or do administrative tasks is a possibility for the right candidate.

Deliveries

• Deliver flower arrangements to clients in and around Portland

• Communicate professionally with clients about safe receipt of their order

• Track order changes and delivery times

• Create efficient delivery routes

• Verify number of deliveries and timing with studio manager each day

• Write and ribbon enclosure cards

• Track miles and tolls

Studio Chores

• Keep studio tidy

• Take pics of flowers for reels and social media

• Weekly studio errands to drop compost off, pick up vessels, shop for supplies, etc.

• Possibility to head up a new pressed flower project

Events

• Assist designers on site with wedding set-ups

• Deliver and set-up small weddings independently

• Occasionally deinstall weddings/pick up rentals on Sundays

Pay

$20/hour + .75/mile
